LADIES’ CUP RACE • SAMUEL de CHAMPLAIN TROPHY • First Boat to Finish on Corrected Time – Any Division or Class, Any Club 14th Consecutive Awarding – 2005 In 1992, when the
winner of the Ladies Cup was switched from first-to-finish to
first-on-corrected time, The Ted Brooks Trophy was switched from
first-on-corrected time to first-to-finish. However, the Brooks Trophy may
be awarded to any competitor regardless of class and including non-LCYC
members. So this new award was created to be awarded to the LCYC Class A
boat that was first to finish. The trophy was in the LCYC archives, having been bought in a yard sale. It features a medallion bearing the likeness of Samuel de Champlain and the dates 1609-1909. The engraving is below the medallion. Engraved:
