Dockers Do It! Talk about a "working club" - the docks guys did it again! Look out at the docks and admire the beautiful new kiosks sporting power, water, and lighting. It took 30 members over three Saturday work sessions, including official Workday, to get the job done. More than 350 man-hours went into this project. Yes, man-hours! Seven members showed up at two work sessions. Five members came to all three: David Kelton, Mike Lynch, Lou Chiriatti, Pete Czaja (carpenter extraordinary and WINGDAM crew), and yours truly. The project was headed up by Dave Kelton who not only labored slavishly, but also designed the electrical system, designed the water system, ordered and hauled most of the materials, and stylishly molded our motley assemblage into efficient work teams. And guess what? All the stuff actually works! I won't name all those who contributed their time and talent to this project for fear I'll miss somebody. However, I should mention Steve Landau, the culprit who got me into this docks job, probably to distract me from racing, who was able to acquire critical project materials at a substantial discount. And finally, there is Mike Lynch. For over 30 years he has been generous with his time and talent. This project has been a real opportunity for me to work along side of some remarkable club members and get to know them better. MIKE BARKER, Docks
